The reduction of population for both Erie city and county is bringing concern to those who are looking to fill the open jobs that area employers are posting. Workforce development expert Janet Anderson told TalkErie.com that the trends are alarming.
“I won’t say crisis, but close to crisis,” Anderson said. “I say that because if you look at our population growth, we are not going to be able to fill the needs of our employers.”
Anderson said that the attraction of younger skilled workers to the Erie area is key to sustaining our local economy in the future.
