On Wednesday night, the Erie Public School Board voted against renewing the charter for Erie Rise Leadership Academy Charter School. The decision would affect more than 70 faculty and staff and more than 400 students. Superintendent Brian Polito says poor test scores were a big factor in making that decision.

But Homer Smith, Public Relations Director at Erie Rise, told TalkErie dot com the decision isn’t the final word, as the school has yet to respond. “There’s a process that will take place. There will be a public hearing and our solicitor will take the lead in that process. That’s something that will take place in the next 30 to 45 days,” said Smith.

Parents and other concerned citizens will have a chance to testify at the public hearing.
