Erie, PA – The Flagship Opportunity Zone Development Company (Flagship) and the Erie Regional Chamber and Growth Partnership, are proud to announce Erie Homecoming 2019: Unlocking Capital in Legacy Cities. The event, in its third year, is designed to ignite purposeful discussions with former residents of Erie, in addition to connecting with a nationwide network of investors and social-impact organizations.

The Flagship Opportunity Zone Development Company and Erie Regional Chamber are inviting former residents, qualified investors, and real estate developers to see a multitude of development projects and investment-grade start-up and operating businesses first-hand. Attendees will be presented with the opportunity to make direct investments in these projects and businesses.

“Erie is in the midst of unprecedented transformation. We want to tell that story broadly to Erie residents, former residents, and a nationwide network of investors and developers.  Erie Homecoming 2019 gives us that chance,” said Brett Wiler, vice president of capital formation for the Flagship and Erie Chamber.

As an exciting twist to the event, the Flagship Opportunity Zone Development Company and the Erie Regional Chamber are partnering with national ‘do-tank’ Accelerator for America– a consortium of mayors, thought-leaders, urbanists, and economic development professionals from across the country committed to finding scalable solutions to economic insecurities across the country. Led by Mayor Eric Garcetti of Los Angeles, Accelerator for America has partnered on Erie Homecoming because they recognize the event can serve as a model for legacy cities across the country looking to unlock capital from various capital sources.

“Accelerator for America recognizes the novel approach Erie is taking to unlock capital at the local, regional, and national level,” Wiler said.  “They believe this can be a model that is replicated in legacy cities across the country. Their partnership is a testament to their belief in the work we’re doing in Erie to catalyze equitable and inclusive growth through the Opportunity Zone tax incentive.”

The two-day event will be held at various locations across Erie’s eight opportunity zones. The event will showcase high-potential investment opportunities to a network of individuals with ties to the region and to individuals and organizations entering the Erie investment market for the first time.

Accelerator for America will lead interactive and dynamic discussions with attendees on the various investment ready projects. Further, they will conduct workshops to help investors and developers’ best understand the various economic development tools and market incentives available to make smart and economically sound investments in the Flagship city.
