The Erie Downtown Development Corporation gave notice in March to not renew the leases of Khao Thai Restaurant, Tandoori Hut Indian Cuisine, and Casablanca Hookah Lounge & Cafe at their North Park Row properties in order to facilitate reconstruction of the over 150-year-old buildings. CEO John Persinger told Joel Natalie on TalkErie.com the timeline of the reconstruction.

“At this point in time, we don’t know when those spaces are going to be rehabilitated. We talked with the Mayor [Friday] morning and his economic development director said that it’s going to be at least three years. But that’s why we gave [the tenants] plenty of notice and why we’ve been working to find them other locations,” said Persinger.

Persinger did say that the goal of the finished space would be to provide an “Erie experience”, which could possibly include a return of the dislocated businesses in the future.
