In the aftermath of Tuesday’s municipal primary, winning candidates were basking in their victories Wednesday and beginning to look toward the general election in November, while the losing candidates evaluated why they came up short. The marquee race Tuesday was the race for Court of Common Pleas, where attorney Dave Ridge came out on top on both the Republican and Democratic ballots. Ridge told Joel Natalie on TalkErie.com that the personal touch was key.

“The most important thing was door-to-door. I went to over 2,500 houses myself. I think people like when you come to the door. You can’t get to everybody, but I think people like it, I think people deserve it, and it makes a difference in a race like this. I’m glad I did it,” Ridge said.

It’s a three-way race now for two Erie County judge posts with Ridge, Attorney Ed Smith, and Deputy DA Erin Connelly in the fall.
