Erie, PA – Erie County government is now accepting online employment applications for open positions through its new Careers web page, https://careers.eriecountypa.gov

Previously, job applications had to be printed out, completed and either mailed, faxed or dropped off to the county’s Human Resources Department.

Erie County’s Human Resources and Information Technology staffs worked to build the new Careers online application system, which promises to streamline the application and increase the pool of potential employees.

“This new system finally gets Erie County in line with modern hiring practices – something that has been long overdue,” said Erie County Executive Kathy Dahlkemper. “And thanks to our professional and skilled Human Resources and IT staffs, we were able to create this new system in-house, enhancing employment opportunities for residents without an added cost.”

The new Careers site includes information about county benefits and features testimonials from county employees. The online system also increases efficiencies for county department heads and managers, allowing them to process and post new job openings more quickly and easily, said Sabrina Fischer, director of Human Resources for Erie County.

Open positions will be posted on the Careers site in real time, as they become available, Fischer said. Previously, open jobs were posted once a week.

Residents without computer access can apply for jobs using computers at the Erie County Department of Human Resources, located on the fifth floor of the Erie County Courthouse, or at any Erie County Public Library branch.
