Rally North America’s “Insure dot it Rally New England” launched this morning from Perry Square in downtown Erie. Over 80 cars congregated before embarking on a rally, through various points of interest on the way to Watkins Glen tonight. The entire rally courses through New England, finishing up Thursday in Old Orchard Beach, Maine.
Rally participant Lisa told TalkErie.com that the rally teams do it for charity, this year for Camp Sunshine, which helps provide respite care and support for families who have a critically ill child.
“Right now we are rallying with 84 other teams to raise enough money to support an entire session of Camp Sunshine. So we’re delighted, we raised over $200,000, which is $75,000 over our goals,” Lisa said.
Erie Mayor Joe Schember acted as Rally New England’s Grand Marshall.
