Over 300 non-profit organizations from across the Erie region are preparing for the annual single-day online philanthropy campaign, called Erie Gives, sponsored by the Erie Community Foundation. On Tuesday, August 13th from 8 am to 8 pm, individuals will be able to go online, choose organizations and donate a minimum of $25 to each of the charities of their choice.
Last year, over $4.4 million was given by nearly 8,000 donors. Vice President of Community and Government Relations Erin Fessler, told TalkErie.com that kind of participation is amazing.
“Erie philanthropy is off the charts, and it’s amazing what our community does. The pro-rated match is the ‘carrot’ that we dangle there, but really, we think it’s more than that. We feel like it’s a collective day of Erie pride, and giving, and recognizing our strong nonprofit sector,” Fessler said.
