The two-day investment conference sponsored by the Erie Regional Chamber and Growth Partnership called Erie Homecoming wrapped up yesterday. More investment money was announced, with the Erie Innovation District receiving ten million dollars in venture capital from the firm Cap-Zone Impact Investments to be used to aid startups that work with the District.

The focus on the eight Opportunity Zones in Erie has leaders optimistic. State Senator Dan Laughlin, one of the drivers who brought Erie’s opportunity zones to the attention of national officials, told TalkErie.com that this is a historical moment for the community.

“This program now is the chance for our generation to really make an impact in the cities that we live in. I’m excited play a role in it,” Sen. Laughlin said.
