The northwest region of the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced Monday that a navigation video on the “Big I” Roundabout is now available online.
The purpose of the video is to assist motorists in preparing for the opening of the multi-lane hybrid roundabout at the intersection of routes 6/322, 19, and 98 in Vernon Township, Crawford County. The intersection, which is currently functioning as a single lane roundabout is expected, to be fulling opened later this month.
The video is available through the PennDOT website www.penndot.gov/BigIRoundabout and the PennDOT YouTube Channel.
The roundabout project is designed to improve safety and traffic flow at the intersection. It includes upgrades to drainage, highway lighting and signs, as well as new sidewalks and curb cuts, all within the footprint of the former signalized intersection. Work is expected to be completed by October 25, 2019, weather permitting.
PennDOT urges motorists to slow down when driving in work zones, and also to be alert to changing conditions, avoid distractions, and to pay attention to signs and flaggers. Drive responsibly in work zones for your safety and the safety of the workers.
