Two weeks after Erie City Council shelved a planned resolution to forward an application to Harrisburg for a $2.5 million grant on behalf of the Erie Downtown Development Corporation, they’re planning on voting on the grant tonight.

That’s despite reports Monday that the EDDC was going to reject the grant and ask it be redirected to the City. Erie Mayor Joe Schember told Joel Natalie on TalkErie.com yesterday that the grant would be in peril if there were any changes, so the grant is back in the hands of EDDC.

“We’re happy that through conversations today (Tuesday), John and the EDDC have agreed to take the next step, which is to keep them in the driver’s seat and work closely with us, and do things in a way that doesn’t adversely impact their budget,” Schember said.

City Council meets tonight at 7:30.
