Erie, PA – The Erie County Public Library will open its Master Plan for Blasco Memorial Library, containing details of planned renovations, for public inspection, Nov. 1-22. Erie County Public Library invites the public to preview the forthcoming changes and provide their thoughts on the initiatives.
“The master plan has been in place for several years, and the library is taking this opportunity to update the cost estimates and gain public feedback on planned revisions before progressing,” said Blane Dessy, director of Erie County Public Library. “The revisions planned for Blasco Library are intended to make the most demanded services more accessible, provide updated meeting and work spaces, and to generally make better use of the resources we have.”
The most notable revisions include bringing both the fiction collection and public internet lab to the first floor and moving the nonfiction collection to the second floor. This will lend greater accessibility to frequently used services and allow for a more traditional quiet space on the second floor. Revisions will be completed in stages based on acquisition of funds.
The public can provide feedback in several different ways: Large display boards are stationed at each of Erie County Public Library’s five locations and are accompanied by physical comment cards with a QR Code that links to the online survey. The survey link can also be found in the library’s monthly newsletter or at http://erielibrary.org.
