Recently the Erie Community Foundation announced that they had awarded the Hamot Health Foundation and their partners $6 million, the largest grant in their 84-year history, to expand the Magee-Womens Research Institute (MWRI) to Erie and create a new biomedical commercialization and translational research lab at Penn State Behrend’s Knowledge Park. That $6 million is being leveraged into a $26 million dollar investment toward women’s health research being done in Erie, creating dozens of high-paying jobs. Joel moved his show to the campus of Penn State Behrend to interview the President of the Erie Community Foundation, Michael Batchelor, and Dr. Ivor Knight, Associate Dean for Research and Graduate Studies at Penn State Behrend.
