A key component in the Erie area’s economic development system is the development of commercial and industrial real estate by the Erie County Redevelopment Authority. The Authority’s new Executive Director is veteran community leader Tina Mengine, who told TalkErie.com’s Joel Natalie, that their main focus is on the current and future land needs of Erie’s growing commercial enterprises locally.

“There’s a misconception out there that your community is going to be saved by a ‘white knight.’ But probably 80% of economic growth comes from existing companies,” Mengine said.

The authority has grown its Loan Bank for business development to $18 million.
