Officials with LECOM Health and its affiliates have been closely monitoring developments surrounding the coronavirus (COVID-19) and are prepared for a possible outbreak in the Erie community. Due to potential health risks, LECOM Health has taken a series of steps to help reduce the possibility of exposure at its facilities.

At this time, visitors are not permitted at Millcreek Community Hospital, Corry Memorial Hospital, the LECOM Senior Living Center, LECOM Nursing & Rehabilitation and LECOM at Village Square, effective March 14. This visitor policy restriction does not affect LECOM Health’s personal care and independent living facilities. Special considerations can be made for hospice patients, critical care patients and patients who are receiving comfort measures.

All outpatients arriving for appointments or treatment at LECOM Health facilities will be expected to check in with the LECOM Health front desk staff for a screening before being permitted any further into the facility.

“The health and safety of our patients and employees is our No. 1 priority and we’re committed to taking the necessary precautions to ensure their wellbeing,” said John M. Ferretti, D.O., president of LECOM Health.

LECOM Health will continue to monitor the situation closely and will continue following guidelines and recommendations issued by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. As guidelines change, adjustments to this plan may require revisions. Additional updates will be available at lecomhealth.com.
