Gannon University announces the appointment of Lori Lindley, Ph.D., as the permanent Dean of the College of Humanities, Education and Social Sciences (CHESS).
Lindley effectively served the University as the College’s Interim Dean since June 2019 as a national search was conducted. Walter Iwanenko, Jr., Ph.D., Vice President of Academic Affairs, commended her exemplary leadership during this time.
“We are grateful to Dr. Lindley for her continued service and commitment to Gannon University, our faculty and our students,” said Iwanenko. “We are excited by her decision to continue to serve as Dean. Her leadership amidst the current dynamics of the changing world around us recently have solidified this decision. She has shown sound and informed decision making, cross-disciplinary collaboration, and a strong commitment to our students and faculty that has and will continue to propel our humanities, education and social science programs forward.”
Dr. Lindley’s advancement to this position is a great opportunity for Gannon to secure strategic leadership within the team, while also providing Dr. Lindley the opportunity to take the next step in furthering her professional career.
Lindley earned her Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from Iowa State University in 2001. She joined the faculty at Gannon University in 2005, was promoted to Associate Professor in 2009 and awarded tenure in 2010.
While at Gannon, she has served as Psychology Program Director (2008-2019), Chair of the Department of Psychology and Counseling (2011-2015) and Associate Dean of the College of Humanities, Education, and Social Sciences (2015-2019). She has taught in the counseling psychology doctoral program, the clinical mental health counseling master’s program and the undergraduate psychology program.
Beyond her service to Gannon, Dr. Lindley serves on the Editorial Boards of the Journal of Vocational Behavior and the Journal of Career Assessment. She has authored 16 publications in the areas of career development, student engagement, gender and prejudice. She is the Secretary of the Board of the Crime Victim Center of Erie County and is dedicated to making contributions to the Erie community.
