County Executive Kathy Dahlkemper today announced two new positive cases of COVID-19 have been reported in Erie County. The total number of cumulative cases of COVID-19 in Erie County to date is 84, with 1,770 negatives. Fifty-six of the 84 total cases have recovered.
One of the new cases is in their 40s; the other case is under the age of 5. Contact tracing continues by the Erie County Department of Health. The new cases are located in Zone 1 and Zone 4, and can be found on the cumulative cases map by zone at eriecountypa.gov.
Melissa Lyon, director of Erie County Department of Health, encourages the public to follow the guidance being issued to keep the community healthy and safe while businesses reopen.
“At this time, we only have fundamental public health tools available to us to contain the spread of disease,” Lyon said. “These tools include the very practices we have been repeating every day – good personal hygiene, social distancing, universal masking, limiting travel, identifying positives and isolating them, and quarantining contacts. This is all we have right now until a vaccine or treatment is developed. Our number one priority is and always has been keeping you healthy, protected and safe.”
