County Executive Kathy Dahlkemper today announced 10 new positive cases of COVID-19 have been reported in Erie County. The total confirmed positive cases of COVID-19 in Erie County to date is 114, with 2,503 negatives. An update on recovered cases will be available Monday.
Two of the new positive cases are in their 20s; three are in their 30s; two are in their 50s; two are in their 60s; and one is a teenager. The cases span Erie County with four of the new cases located in Zone 1; one located in Zone 2; and five located in Zone 5. The zones can be found on the cumulative cases map by zone at eriecountypa.gov (refresh page). Contact tracing continues by Erie County Department of Health.
“The good news is that as of this moment, we know some of these cases are connected, and we’re doing the contact tracing and the work to get people isolated or quarantined very quickly,” Dahlkemper said. “As we prepare to celebrate Mother’s Day on Sunday, I ask everyone to make responsible choices. A virtual gathering is best, but if you do meet in person, please refrain from embracing. Keep your 6-foot distance and wear a mask, and only stay for a short time. If the weather is nice and you can be outside, even better. This won’t be easy, but it really isn’t that difficult to make these adjustments, knowing you are saving lives.”
The County Executive welcomed James Grunke, president and CEO of Erie Regional Chamber and Growth Partnership, who shared information about a “Restart” task force and committees who are working on a strategy so everyone can be successful as Erie County reopens. He asked for everyone’s patience as businesses and residents learn new ways of doing business.
