The environmental team continues to make field visits. All businesses who are permitted to operate are required to sign and post this poster of safety procedures where it is visible to anyone at the business. The businesses also must appoint a pandemic safety officer, as outlined in the safety procedures. The poster is available in eight other languages under “Translated COVID-19 Information” on the COVID-19 page at eriecountypa.gov.

Community leaders and neighborhood organizations will be placing door hangers that contain information on where to go for the most up-to-date information related to COVID-19, reopening information and resources, on doors in their neighborhoods. In addition, the United Way 211 can link people to resources if someone is in need of food, help with shelter, or access to health care or other social service programs.

“We want to make sure we are reaching as many people in the community as possible, regardless of whether or not they have television or internet,” Dahlkemper said. “We know these last few weeks have been socially isolating, and some people may be suffering from depression or other mental health issues. We are asking community residents to check in on their neighbors while maintaining social distance. If you notice someone has left a door hanger on the doorknob for a couple of days, knock on the door – while wearing a mask – and see if they are all right. If you don’t feel comfortable doing that, try writing them a note to see how they’re doing or if they need anything.”

People who do not have access to the internet can call Erie County Department of Health at 814-451-6700 to have their questions answered.

Valerie Bukowski, director of health assessment and preparedness at the Erie County Department of Health, joined the County Executive today via Zoom to explain the process of contact tracing in Erie County and to provide clarification about lab-confirmed cases and probable cases of COVID-19.

Today’s briefing can be seen in its entirety on the Erie County Department of Health’s Facebook page and the County of Erie’s Facebook page.

Guidance for masks and businesses allowed to operate, fact sheets, business resources, family resources, videos and translations continue to be added to eriecountypa.gov as it comes available.
