3 City-sponsored events postponed
County Executive Kathy Dahlkemper today announced two new positive cases of COVID-19 have been reported in Erie County. The total cumulative cases of COVID-19 in Erie County to date is 125, with 2,876 negatives and 101 recovered cases. The third death is also being reported in Erie County.
One of the new cases is in their 30s, and one is in their 40s; both are located in Zone 1, which can be found on the cumulative cases map by zone at eriecountypa.gov (refresh page). Updated data can be found on the chart on the “Positive Cases in Erie County” page on eriecountypa.gov. Contact tracing continues by Erie County Department of Health.
Dahlkemper mentioned that Pennsylvania Insurance Commissioner Jessica Altman has reminded businesses that they are risking their business insurance policy coverage if they defy the business closure order from Governor Tom Wolf. The Insurance Department strongly urges businesses or residents who have questions regarding insurance coverage during the phased reopening to reach out to their insurance carrier to discuss their concerns.
“You could be risking your entire business by not complying,” Dahlkemper said. “Please do your part in this fight against COVID-19.”
City of Erie Mayor Joe Schember joined the County Executive today via Zoom to announce the postponement of three City-sponsored summer events due to COVID-19:
- Sounds of Summer is postponed until June 2021.
- Lights over Lake Erie is postponed until Labor Day weekend, Sept. 6.
- CelebrateErie is postponed until August 2021.

Schools located in counties or regions in the yellow phase are limited to gatherings of no more than 25 people and must follow Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and Department of Health guidance for social distancing.
