Erie County reports 11 new positive cases of COVID-19; cumulative total is 1,369

County Executive Kathy Dahlkemper and Erie County Department of Health announce 11 new positive cases of COVID-19 have been reported in Erie County as of 12:01 a.m. on Sept. 2.

The total cumulative cases of COVID-19 in Erie County since March is 1,369, with 81 active cases, 1,241 recovered cases, 23,498 negatives and 47 deaths reported in NEDSS.

Updated data can be found on the chart on the “Positive Cases in Erie County” page on eriecountypa.gov.

Of the cumulative cases, 58% are female and 42% are male. The breakdown of cases by race/ethnicity as of
Sept. 1, is as follows:

  • 61% White residents
  • 21% African American/Black residents
  • 8% Asian residents
  • 2% Other
  • 8% Unknown

Seven percent of the cases are Hispanic, of any race; 82% are not Hispanic; and 10% are unknown.

The age breakdown of the cumulative cases looks like this:

  • 3% are ages 0-4
  • 2% are ages 5-9
  • 6% are ages 10-18
  • 15% are ages 19-24
  • 37% are ages 25-49
  • 18% are ages 50-64
  • 19% are ages 65 and older

Daniel Loewenheim, emergency management specialist at the Erie County Department of Public Safety and planning section chief under the incident command structure for the COVID-19 pandemic, joined the County Executive today to provide an update on how the Erie County Department of Health Strike Team is assisting
local schools.

David George, supervisor of environmental health services at Erie County Department of Health, also participated via Zoom to share updates on schools and sports.

Consistent with Wednesday updates, the County Executive reminds everyone to complete the 2020 Census. Erie County is at 72% completion, and the City of Erie is at 63%. Residents can visit my2020census.gov or call 844-330-2020 to complete the census.
