Erie, PA – County Executive Kathy Dahlkemper and Erie County Department of Health announce four new positive cases of COVID-19 have been reported in Erie County as of 11:59 p.m. on Sept. 29. The total cumulative cases of COVID-19 in Erie County since March is 1,567, with 61 active cases, 1,454 recovered cases, 27,977 negatives and 52 deaths reported in NEDSS.
Updated data can be found on the chart on the “Positive Cases in Erie County” page on eriecountypa.gov. Of the cumulative cases, 57% are female and 43% are male. The breakdown of cases by race/ethnicity is as follows:
64% White residents, 20% African American/Black residents, 7% Asian residents, 2% Other and 7% Unknown.
Seven percent of the cases are Hispanic, of any race; 83% are not Hispanic; and 10% are unknown.
The age breakdown of the cumulative cases looks like this:
3% are ages 0-4, 2% are ages 5-9, 7% are ages 10-18, 17% are ages 19-24, 36% are ages 25-49, 18% are ages 50-64, 17% are ages 65 and older

Also available at eriecountypa.gov is guidance put forth by the CDC for holiday celebrations. Melissa Lyon, director of the Erie County Department of Health, joined the County Executive today to explain the difference between confirmed cases of COVID-19 and probable cases.
Dr. Howard A. Nadworny, infectious disease physician and a consultant to the Erie County Department of Health, also joined her today to provide a more detailed explanation of the wastewater testing.
Consistent with Wednesday updates, the County Executive reminds everyone to complete the 2020 Census. Erie County is at 73% completion, and the City of Erie is at 65%. Residents can visit my2020census.gov or call 844-330-2020 to complete the census. Completing the census is fast, safe and easy, and the deadline has been extended to Oct. 5.
