Erie’s Public Schools to host inaugural HBCU Virtual College Fair

Erie’s Public Schools will host a HBCU Virtual College Fair on Wednesday, April 28, from 6 to 8 p.m. The virtual fair will feature representatives from 12 historically Black colleges and universities who will participate and engage with students via Zoom.

At a time when on-campus visits may have been limited or unavailable to some families, the fair is a unique chance for middle and high school students to take part in a virtual college “road trip” to schools they might not have the opportunity to visit or learn about otherwise. During the two-hour event, students will have the opportunity to ask questions of the college representatives, learn about programs offered by these institutions, and better understand the admissions process. Students can “visit” as many participating institutions as they’d like.

Historically Black colleges and universities hold a special place in higher education and in the history of our country, and have a long and deep history of providing students with a personalized pathway to their future – a mission that we share here at Erie’s Public Schools. All students and family members are encouraged to attend the virtual fair to learn more about HBCUs.
