The long-awaited Census 2020 results are in, and Erie—both the city and the county—has diminished in size. For a closer look at the Census results, the numbers, and what this could mean to people that have stayed in Erie, we talked to Michelle Jaggi. She’s the Public Information Officer for Erie County, and served as the Census Outreach Coordinator throughout the 2020 data collection process. Our conversation centered around the hurdles the COVID-19 pandemic presented to the count, and what the lower population numbers in most local municipalities could mean to our communities.
