Thursday morning at the Tom Ridge Environmental Center, the Pennsylvania Conservative Energy Forum held a public meeting to inform on latest public policy regarding renewable energy. Erie State Senator Dan Laughlin was dubbed by organizers as Pennsylvania’s “Solar Senator”. Senator Laughlin told TalkErie.com News why.

“It’s the closest thing to magic on the planet: you shine a little sun on a blueish piece of glass, and electricity comes out the other end. I think that’s something that most people can at least appreciate. I don’t think it’s the only answer, obviously,” Laughlin said.

Laughlin says he favors a mix of energy sources, but encourages legislation that helps neighborhoods and businesses create micro-grids to utilize renewables generated on their property.
