Erie, Pa: The Erie Sports Commission announced today that Chris Rosato Jr. has been hired as the organization’s events and marketing manager.

Rosato Jr. has worked with the Erie Sports Commission in various capacities since 2019, when he started as a marketing and communications intern. After graduating from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania in the spring of 2019, he worked with the organization as a part-time special projects assistant.

“We couldn’t be happier to bring Chris back into the organization on a full-time basis,” Erie Sports Commission Executive Director Mark Jeanneret said. “Between his experience working with us and directly with event organizers, I am confident that Chris can help us grow to support more events while still providing the same high level of service that our current events receive.”

In this new position, Rosato Jr. will be responsible for assisting in attracting and servicing events supported by the Erie Spots Commission, supporting the efforts of current Event Services Director Ben Huggler. He will also oversee the brand image of the organization.

“I’m excited to dive into working with the Erie Sports Commission and Mark and Ben again. Although I haven’t worked for them for nearly a year, it feels like no time at all has passed,” Rosato Jr. said. “Erie is a terrific destination that I chose to relocate to, and I love having the opportunity to showcase it to others.”

Originally from Southern California, Rosato Jr. moved to Erie in 2017 to complete his Bachelor of Science degree in Journalism and Public Relations at Edinboro, where he served as the sports editor of The Spectator, Edinboro’s student-run campus newspaper, for three semesters. Since graduating, he has worked as a freelance public address and play-by-play announcer for various events throughout Erie County.

Most recently, he worked in Mercyhurst University’s athletic communications office, where he was responsible for updating the athletics website with statistics, schedule updates and game previews and recaps for six sports. He also served as the play-by-play broadcaster and media relations manager of the Yakima Valley Pippins, a summer collegiate baseball team in Yakima, Washington, for the past two years.

Rosato Jr. has been a PIAA interscholastic sports official for baseball and football since 2019, and serves on the Erie County Football Officials Association’s Scholarship Committee. He lives in Erie with his wife, a chemist.
