Even as the CDC continues to declare a high community level of COVID-19 for Erie County, a county-wide mask mandate will not be part of the strategy. That’s according to Director of Public Health Erin Mrenak, who told Talk Erie’s Joel Natalie, that it’s up to each individual to assess their own risk.

She stated, “The direction this has gone is that its individual responsibility to decide your own level of risk and choose to protect yourself with masks. They do recommend a well fitting mask as well.”

Mrenak said that N95 and KN95 masks are readily available, and even a well-fitted surgical mask helps to protect the wear-er and those around them from the virus.
