The LECOM Institute for Successful Aging, the Erie County Department of Health, and Erie County Executive, Brenton Davis, announced today they have partnered to establish a COVID-19 test-to-treat site at the LECOM Center for Health and Aging building, 3910 Schaper Avenue in Erie.

The LECOM Center for Health and Aging will serve as a test-to-treat location for individuals needing COVID-19 testing and therapeautics, and provide faster, easier access to lifesaving COVID-19 treatments. Upon testing positive, the medical team (consisting of physicians and  pharmacists) will assess each individual’s eligibility for COVID-19 therapeutics and prescribe as appropriate.

“As we all are getting assimilated to the new norms of COVID and more treatment options are available, the LECOM Institute for Successful Aging, in partnership with the Erie County Department of Health, continues to lead local efforts in providing the community convenient access to the latest treatments for COVID-19,” said Dr. James Lin, president of the LECOM Institute for Successful Aging.

Testing is available at the site daily via drive thru, Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday 9AM – 5PM, and on Tuesdays from 9AM – 7PM.  COVID vaccinations will continue to be administered Tuesdays 9AM – 7PM, and Fridays 9AM – 5PM.  No appointments are necessary, and there is no cost for testing or treatments as the site is being funded by a state grant through the Pennsylvania Department of Health.

Available oral therapeutics include Paxlovid (regular and renal dosing) and Molnupiravir.

“Establishing this site is a common sense and reasonable approach to ending the COVID pandemic through a public-private partnership with LECOM. Test-to-treat has been the option my administration has set our sights on from day one, and I am pleased we were able to achieve the results so quickly,” said Erie County Executive Davis.

The test-to-treat initiative was established as a directive of the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Preparedness & Response (ASPR), where counties were encouraged to provide residents convenient access to receive COVID-19 testing and therapeutics.
