On Saturday, November 5, 2022, the Pennsylvania Supreme Court issued an order defining what incorrectly dated declaration envelopes are to supplement its prior order that undated and incorrectly dated mail-in and absentee ballots should be segregated and not counted.
Specifically, mail-in ballots with dates of September 19th 2022 through November 8th 2022 are properly dated. Absentee ballots with dates of August 30th 2022 through November 8th 2022 are properly dated.
As of November 7th 2022:
Erie County Board of Elections has approved Resolution 16 of 2022 allowing the following Voters to cure(correct) their declaration envelopes for the following reasons:
- Undated
- Wrong Date
Erie County Board of Elections has previously approved Resolution 12 of 2022 allowing Voters to cure(correct) their envelopes for the following reasons:
- Missing Privacy Envelope
- Missing Signature
Voters may come to the Elections Office ( Erie County Courthouse-140 West 6th St. Rm 112) regular business hours of 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM on Monday, November 7, 2022 and from 7 AM to 8 PM on Election Day, Tuesday, November 8, 2022.
Voters unable to travel to the office due to a disability may authorize a Designated Agent to pick up a replacement ballot and/or return a completed ballot using the Designated Agent Form.
The form can be found here: https://www.vote.pa.gov/Resources/Documents/Authorize-Designated-Agent-for-Mail-in-or-Absentee-Ballot.pdf and must be completed before the ballot is picked up.
Voters may also choose to cast a provisional ballot at their poll if they are unable to come to the office. In the alternative, Voters who choose to vote provisionally will go to their regular polling place. They will be given a provisional ballot to cast which is then returned to the poll workers, rather than being scanned at the polling place. Provisional ballots are researched and processed during the Return Board process which begins at 9 AM on Friday, November 11, 2022.
