Erie Schools Set to Host Opening Rounds of NCAA Soccer Tournaments

Gannon University and Mercyhurst University will play host to opening-round matchups of the NCAA Division II Women’s and Men’s Soccer Tournaments, respectively, this weekend.

Gannon, ranked No. 3 in the Atlantic Region’s women’s soccer bracket, will host two first round games Friday. Frostburg State and Kutztown will meet at McConnell Family Stadium for a noon matchup before the Golden Knights host Fairmont State at 3 p.m. The winners of each match will play Sunday at 3 p.m. at McConnell Family Stadium in the tournament’s second round.

Mercyhurst, ranked No. 3 on the men’s side in Super Region 1, earned themselves a bye in the first round. They will take on No. 6 Post University Saturday at 6 p.m. at Saxon Stadium.

“We are grateful to have partner universities who are as eager to host NCAA tournament events like these as Gannon and Mercyhurst are,” Erie Sports Commission Executive Director Mark Jeanneret said, “and we look forward to continuing to demonstrate that Erie is a fantastic host city for championship events.

  • Friday, Nov. 11, 12 p.m.: No. 2 Frostburg State vs. No. 7 Kutztown (DII Women’s Soccer First Round)
  • Friday, Nov. 11, 3 p.m.: No. 3 Gannon vs. No. 6 Fairmont State (DII Women’s Soccer First Round)
  • Saturday, Nov. 12, 6 p.m.: No. 3 Mercyhurst vs. No. 6 Post (DII Men’s Soccer Second Round)
  • Sunday, Nov. 13, 3 p.m.: Frostburg/Kutztown vs. Gannon/Fairmont (DII Women’s Soccer Second Round)
