In an effort to work toward high-speed internet access for all residents, Erie County is preparing a challenge of the Federal Communication Commission’s (FCC) broadband access map. The map was released by the FCC using internet provider data to inform the distribution of Federal funding which will be utilized to expand high-speed internet to un- and under-served areas.

To ensure that this map is accurately depicting information, the FCC has set up a tool that allows consumers and others to challenge inaccuracies and provide feedback. Individuals who find that the information on the maps does not match up with what their lived experience should submit challenges. The map can be found at Broadbandmap.fcc.gov/home.

If you are currently without internet service to your home or business and/or you have submitted a challenge to the FCC map, the Erie County Department of Planning and Community Development is requesting that you notify them with that information in order to enable a countywide bulk challenge. Please notify the Planning Department by email at Challengefcc@eriecountypa.gov or by calling (814) 451-7345.

Information must be submitted by January 9, 2023 in order to be included in Erie County’s bulk challenge.
