NOTE: the following announcement was posted at the Presque Isle State Park website Friday, Dec. 23, 2022:

Due to the current and projected weather conditions, Presque Isle State Park will be temporarily closing the Park today, December 23, at approximately 12:00 Noon.  Winds are the biggest concern, at this point, with possible downed trees. The lake levels are forecasted to reach above 576’ today approximately 5 feet above yesterday’s levels.  This increase will have significant impacts on park facilities such as flooded roadways, parking areas and buildings. This flooding, coupled with forecasted temperatures, will create an unsafe environment for visitors.

We will be monitoring the conditions closely today, and throughout the next few days as the weather conditions fluctuate. Park visitor safety is a priority. If things continue as forecasted, and conditions remain unsafe, the Park will remain closed until conditions are safe for the public.

In addition, the Tom Ridge Environmental Center and Elk Creek Access at Erie Bluffs State Park will also be temporarily closed, until further notice.
