David Forrest, the City of Erie’s Planning and Neighborhood Resources Director, submitted his two-week notice of resignation to Mayor Schember’s Chief of Staff Renee Lamis on Friday afternoon, Feb. 24.
Since being hired in September, Forrest, 61, has updated building permit fees, worked with City Council to pass a vacant property registration ordinance, improved dialog and cooperation with downtown developers, and created a scope of work for the 12th Street Reimagined project, among other things.
“We’re grateful for Dave’s hard work during his time here,” said Mayor Schember on Saturday. “He has a lot of energy, drive, and determination. We wish him well in his future endeavors.”
A search will begin immediately to fill the Planning and Neighborhood Resources Director role.
