The Davis Administration is pleased to announce that former City of Erie Mayor Joe Sinnott will take over as the new Director of the Erie County Economic Development Department.
Sinnott is an Erie native, lawyer and a former member of Erie City Council. He received his degree from Case Western Reserve University School of Law in Cleveland. He then went on to lead the City of Erie as Mayor for three terms before taking his most recent job as the City Administrator in Cleveland Heights, Ohio.
“Joe is a welcomed addition to the Economic Development Department. We look forward to all that he brings to the County, including his vast knowledge and relationships formed over a successful tenure at the City of Erie,” said County Executive Brenton Davis.
The Davis Administration has unveiled the first fully funded and staffed economic Development Department in Erie County History. The department has three main functions: high impact regional projects, business attraction and small business development, municipal engagement through the Erie County Fusion Cell.
“I am looking forward to joining County Executive Davis’ team as he works to create a better Erie County for all its citizens. I am very excited to be returning to Erie and working for my community again,” Sinnott said.
Sinnott will oversee the department, which has already had much success in its short tenure. The department has identified projects such as RESOLVE and NePTWNE as transformational investments. Other initiates included the cruise ship terminal getting United States Coast Guard approval to welcome great lakes cruises as a port of call.
Joe Sinnott will begin his role at the County on April 10, 2023.
