Today, U.S. Rep. Mike Kelly (R-PA) met with officials from North East Borough and Granite Ridge over the proposed unaccompanied migrant housing facility at the Granite Ridge property, the site of the former Mercyhurst North East campus. Kelly spoke with officials to learn more about the owners’ intentions for the property along with the potential impacts of those plans on the North East community.

In March, news broke that Ehrenfeld Companies, the owner of the Granite Ridge site, is considering turning Granite Ridge into an unaccompanied migrant housing facility. Rep. Kelly’s meeting with local leaders comes as North East residents remain concerned about a potential migrant housing facility located amid residential housing and schools.

“Over the last month, North East residents have called my office expressing serious concerns about the future of the Granite Ridge site,” said Kelly. We are here to learn more about the future of the site and to ensure that North East residents are heard. My job as a Representative is to stand up for my constituents and demand answers. We are doing just that.”
