The Erie Sports Commission announced today that the Strongman Corporation will once again hold its National Championships at the Bayfront Convention Center Oct. 20-21, 2023.

“With a spectacular venue and such a welcoming community, Erie was the perfect place to host our national championships in 2022,” Strongman Corporation CEO and President Dione Masters said. “Our athletes had a great experience, and we can’t wait to get back to Erie in October for another great championship event.”

The Strongman Corporation National Championships were hosted in Erie for the first time in October 2022, bringing more than 200 male and female athletes representing 37 states. The event generated nearly $400,000 in estimated economic impact, which this year’s event is expected to surpass.

“On top of getting the opportunity to crown national champions here in Erie, this event introduces hundreds of athletes and their families to our bayfront, downtown and surrounding areas,” Erie Sports Commission Executive Director Mark Jeanneret. “Hosting this event once was a great opportunity for Erie, and we were honored to hear that the Strongman Corporation made the decision to return this year. We can’t wait to welcome them and their athletes back.”

Athletes in this year’s championships will take on six new events over the two days, including a sandbag toss, log press, a yoke/wheelbarrow medley and power stairs. Male and female athletes will compete in 10 weight classes.

Strongman Corporation is the organization creating, managing and promoting Strongman events, the foundation for amateur and professional strength sport competitions.

Information on participant registration and ticket sales will be announced on a later date.
