On Mon., Nov. 27, The Millcreek Township Fire Department (MFD) will be swearing in the first paid firefighters at the Millcreek Township Municipal Building Assembly Room at 10 a.m.

Nine full-time firefighters will be sworn in. Part-time firefighters are expected to be sworn into the MFD later in 2023.

“The historic first-class of Millcreek Fire Department firefighters have undergone rigorous training and evaluations and I’m proud of the team we’ve assembled,” said MFD Chief Mike Cliff, “together with the volunteer fire departments and the Millcreek Police Department we’ll continue to uphold a safe community in Millcreek.”

As the Millcreek Township Fire Department continues to establish itself, the department will initially utilize volunteer equipment. This transitional period will ensure that the community receives the highest level of service and protection. Following their swearing-in, the new firefighters will be readily available to be dispatched on 911 calls. They will adhere to a shift schedule, ensuring that emergency responses are swift and efficient.

The MFD was established in early 2023 with the hiring of MFD Chief Cliff and the institution of the Fire Tax. The move to a paid fire department was recommended by the Millcreek Fire and Emergency Services Commission as a future necessity.
