Millcreek Township Supervisors invite community members to apply for a soon-to-be-open seat on the Millcreek Township General Authority (MTGA) board. Persons can express their interest by emailing a letter of introduction and their resume to info@millcreektownship.com. Alternatively, resumes and cover letters can be mailed or dropped off at the Millcreek Municipal Building. The Millcreek Supervisors intend to appoint a chosen candidate at their Jan. 2, 2024 reorganization meeting. Candidates have till Dec. 15, 2023 to submit.

“Resident input has been an essential part of the MTGA and the positive feedback we’ve received so far is a direct result of addressing the community needs identified in the Embrace Millcreek Comprehensive Plan and Presque Isle Gateway District Plan,” said MTGA Board Chairman Dave Zimmer.

The Supervisors will give special attention to candidates with a communications and marketing background. The new member will assist the MTGA board in marketing MTGA properties and scaling resident communications.

Qualified applicants will be community members who can make short – and long-term decisions with the best interests of Millcreek residents in mind. Candidates must be Millcreek residents, own a business in Millcreek or property within the township. Board members will be responsible for attending MTGA meetings and acting as informed voting members on MTGA affairs. Appointed members of the Authority Board receive no compensation.

The Authority’s Articles of Incorporation, included in Resolution 2022-R-45, unanimously passed by the Millcreek Supervisors on Oct. 11, 2022, detail a plan for the Supervisors to relinquish their seat on the MTGA Board as their current term expires. Supervisor Bock’s current term ends on Dec. 31, 2023, replacing his seat with a member of the public in January. The other Supervisors’ terms on the Authority expire with their current terms in 2025 and 2027. This policy gradually transfers the makeup of the MTGA to the Millcreek residents and business owners.

Currently, the MTGA board consists of the three Millcreek Supervisors, Jim Bock, Dan Ouellet and Kim Clear and two citizen members, Dave Zimmer, chairman and Cheryl Mitchell, vice-chair. Dave Zimmer is the current CEO of Erie Bank and Cheryl Mitchel was an Erie Insurance real estate executive.

Candidates will be reviewed and appointed by the Millcreek Township Supervisors.
