Another busy weekend of youth sports is on the horizon for this weekend as the Erie Sports Commission welcomes the Marsha Marsh Roundball Classic and the Premier Ice Prospects Whiteout Weekend.
This year’s edition of the Marsha Marsh Roundball Classic once again features the McDowell Trojans taking on some of the top boys’ high school basketball talent in the region. Tournament action begins Friday at 5 p.m. at McDowell High School when Cleveland Benedictine takes on Jefferson in an all-Ohio match-up. The host Trojans will battle Pittsburgh’s Chartiers Valley at 6:30 p.m.
Saturday’s action gets underway at 11:30 a.m. with a boy’s junior varsity game between McDowell and Chartiers Valley followed by the tournament consolation game at 1 p.m. and the championship game at 2:30 p.m.
Tickets for the tournament are $5 per day and can be purchased at the door.
Premier Ice Prospects Whiteout Weekend returns for a third year with games being played at the LECOM Sports Park and the Flo Fabrizo Ice Center. The all-girls tournament features 26 teams from Michigan, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Ontario, Pennsylvania and Virginia competing in 10U and 12U divisions.
Tournament games begin Friday at 8 a.m. with Championship contests starting Sunday at 11:45 a.m.
