Regardless of the current weather, people in the Erie community will join together at the same time with others from throughout the country to take a Relay First Lap to highlight the challenges faced by those impacted by cancer. Locally, the event will take place at the Millcreek Mall, starting at the community booth near JC Penney, on Saturday, January 6, 2024 at 11:00 a.m.
Relay First Lap is a chance for individuals to show their support for those battling cancer, while honoring survivors, celebrating caregivers, and taking time to remember those who have been lost to this terrible disease. The event also serves as the official kick-off to the 2024 Relay For Life season, and those in attendance will be starting their journey toward Erie’s Relay event which will happen on June 22 at Iroquois School District Track and Field.
Everyone is welcome to attend. Relay For Life volunteers will be on hand at the community booth from 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. both Saturday and Sunday, to answer any questions people might have about June’s Relay event, receive free registration assistance, learn about the 2024 Daffodil Days that will be kicking off later in the month, as well as learn about American Cancer Society’s programs and services.
For more than 38 years Relay For Life has raised funds to support the mission of the American Cancer Society. Whether it’s fueling breakthrough research or providing essential services throughout someone’s cancer journey, the money raised through Relay For Life makes a real difference in our vision to end cancer as we know it, for everyone.
