The Erie Sports Commission has been voted the No.1 All-Star Destination Partner in SportsEvents Media Group’s 2024 Readers’ Choice Awards for the third year in a row. The national poll is voted on by members of the sports tourism industry each year.

“It’s always rewarding to be recognized by our peers,” said Mark Jeanneret, executive director of the Erie Sports Commission. “We enjoyed great success in 2023 and we are working to build on that success as to deliver even more positive impact in Erie County in 2024.”

In 2023, the Erie Sport Commission supported more events than any other year since being established in 2013.  The organization set records by hosting and supporting 83 events covering 117 days and generating $18 million in estimated economic impact for Erie County.

In addition, the Barber Beast on the Bay was voted first in the Best Long-Term Partnership Between Planner and Destination (the Erie Sports Commission) category by SportsEvents Media Group in 2023. This is the only event in the country that has a one-mile adaptive course for adults with intellectual disabilities. The event has raised over $700,000 for the Barber Institute since its inception in 2013.

In 2023 the Barber Beast on the Bay attracted over 1,000 participants from across the country.
