Millcreek Township General Authority (MTGA) proudly announces the start of the demolition phase marking a milestone in the development of the Presque Isle Gateway District.
“I’m excited to tell the Erie County residents and eager supporters of the project, today is the day you start seeing the change,” said MTGA Board Chair Dave Zimmer, “we’re asking everyone to understand what this project means for the economy, tourism and pride in the region.”
This event signifies the beginning of a visionary initiative to revitalize the West 8th Street corridor. Demolition includes the former Manor Motel, former Joe Roots, former Bel-Air Motel, and former Sandbar locations. The MTGA is demolishing the old properties to prepare ideal sites for new development to come in and stimulate tourism and the economy in the region.
Public input was an important part of getting to this point and will be a crucial aspect of the Gateway District moving forward. There will be more opportunities for feedback with the last being a public open house conducted last year after the property purchases.
