The Millcreek Township Supervisors approved the purchase of an ambulance to the Millcreek Fire Department (MFD). The approval was at the Mar. 12, 2024, Board of Supervisors’ regular meeting. The ambulance is a used 2012 Ford F450 Lifeline Ambulance, Type 1. The purchase included various upgrades, fitting the MFD’s mission to uphold community safety.

“The ambulance will create new paths for the MFD, which includes trained paramedics, to respond to medical emergencies across the township,” said MFD Chief Mike Cliff.

The MFD ambulance will be available 24/7 to supplement the service provided by the Millcreek Paramedic Service (MPS). Additionally, some fire engines are now named paramedic engines. These engines carry the necessary supplies to provide on-the-scene ambulance-level care.

In terms of a billing process, the MFD has elected to bill the patient’s insurance if transport in the new ambulance is necessary.

“Millcreek Township has elected not to hard-bill the residents of Millcreek Township. They’re already paying a fire tax,” Chief Cliff said.

The MFD hopes to train more firefighters as qualified paramedics to provide Millcreek Township with continuous access to emergency care.
