The Erie-Western Pennsylvania Port Authority is pleased to announce the hiring of Julie Slomski as their new Executive Director beginning May 1, 2024. Slomski’s hiring will ensure the Erie Port Authority continues its mission to promote industrial, commercial, and recreational opportunities on Presque Isle Bay and adjacent waters.

Prior to taking on the Executive Director role, Slomski has spent the past nine months serving as the Port Authority’s Deputy Executive Director. Before coming to the Port Authority, Slomski served as the Chief Clerk for Erie County, acting as Chief of Staff to seven County Council members. Slomski spent several years of her professional career in the political realm as Chief of Staff for Representative Ryan Bizzarro and later as Northwest Regional Director for the Pennsylvania Office of the Governor under Governor Tom Wolf’s administration. In that role, Slomski acted as liaison between the Governor’s office and fifteen counties in Northwestern Pennsylvania, securing over $150M in state funding ($100M of which was designated for Erie County) and working directly with local government and community leaders. Through that work, she also established strong relationships with the Pennsylvania departments of Transportation, Education, State, and Labor and Industry. She also served as the Governor’s liaison to the Great Lakes and St. Lawrence Governors’ and Premiers and the Great Lakes Commission. Slomski, an Erie native and graduate of Mercyhurst Preparatory School, holds a Bachelor of Science degree in General Management from Penn Sate Behrend.

“I’m very thankful for the Board’s confidence in me to work with our Team to further our mission.”, stated Slomski.

“The Board is excited about hiring Julie Slomski as our new Executive Director,” commented Erie Western PA Port Authority Chairperson, Jeff Brinling. “Her skills and experience will help us to continue to conduct port operations, improve ERIE’s waterfront, and execute our Master Plan.”
