Laura Smith of Erie, PA earned the rank of Eagle Scout this spring after completing 58 merit badges over four years while a member of Troop 104 G of the Boy Scouts of America. A ceremony recognizing her many achievements will be held at Luther Memorial Church 225 West 10th Street in Erie, PA starting at 1:00 pm.

Laura is a founding member of Troop 104 G and has held many positions of leadership in the troop from Scribe to Senior Patrol Leader. She currently holds the highest youth leadership position as Lodge Chief of Langundowi Lodge, which is the local chapter of the national honor society of scouting, and she is the first female ever to hold this position.

“It’s been an honor watching Laura grow from a shy young girl to a thoughtful outspoken leader,” said Rich Smith, Laura’s father and current Scoutmaster of Troop 104 G. “The impact that scouting has had on her life, will benefit everyone she comes in contact with for the rest of her life.”

Laura is also involved in Sea Scouts Ship 2532 in Erie and has worked on Camp Staff at French Creek Council’s Custaloga Town Scout Reservation since 2021. In the summer of 2024, she will be the Director of the First Year Scout Program at the Camp, teaching new Scouts the skills they need for success.
