Monday morning, officials from Erie’s Public Schools broke ground on a new Edison Elementary School on the city’s lower east side.
The building will have updated classrooms, a separate gym and cafeteria, room for community school services, and a parent circular driveway. The cost of construction is slated to be 35 million dollars, built with all local Erie prime contractors, facilitating dozens of local union jobs.
The old Edison school, built in 1910 will be demolished, once the new one is completed.
