Lake Erie Cyclefest returns this Thursday, highlighting beautiful routes throughout Erie County’s roads, trails, and beaches. There are six rides offered this year with each one showing you a different part of Erie!
Sponsored by Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield and AHN Saint Vincent Hospital, the yearly event offers rides for cyclists of all skill levels with a variety of distances, obstacles, and surfaces. Hundreds of cyclists will congregate in Erie County from Thursday evening throughout Sunday afternoon to take part in six rides operated by the following local nonprofit organizations: Asbury Woods, Because You Care, Inc., Bike Erie, Erie Downtown Partnership, Northern Allegheny Mountain Bike Association and Presque Isle Partnership.

Lake Erie Cyclefest Downtown Slow Roll – Thursday
Hosted by the Erie Downtown Partnership and Bike Erie: Check in begins at 5 p.m., ride begins at 6 p.m. at the Perry Square Stage.
Grape Escape Ride – Friday, July 26th
Hosted by Because You Care, Inc.: Check in begins at 7:30 a.m. with rides starting at 8:30 a.m. and 9:30 a.m.at South Shore Winery.
Tour de West County – Saturday, July 27th
Hosted by Asbury Woods: Check in begins at 7 a.m., rides begin at 8 a.m., 9 a.m. and 10 a.m. at the Asbury Woods Nature Center.
Six Mile Creek Classic – Saturday, July 27th
Hosted by Northern Allegheny Mountain Bike Association: Check in begins at noon and races begin at 2 p.m. at the Trails at Six Mile at Six Mile Creek Park.
Presque Isle Sunrise Ride – Sunday, July 28th
Hosted by Presque Isle Partnership: Check in begins at 5:30 a.m. with the ride beginning at 6 a.m.

Hosted by Because You Care, Inc.: Check in begins at 8 a.m. with rides beginning at 9 a.m., 9:30 a.m. and 9:45 a.m. at McKean Elementary School.
Lake Erie Cyclefest is presented by Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield and AHN Saint Vincent Hospital, with further support from the Erie Sports Commission, Presque Isle Downs & Casino, VisitErie, Erie News Now, and Erie Apparel.
In addition, the Western PA Team Bass Series will host the first Kings of Bass event, presented by FishUSA this weekend. Boats will launch from the West Pier Launch Ramp at Presque Isle State Park, with the event starting at 6 a.m. Saturday. Anglers will compete to catch largemouth bass only on day one, and smallmouth bass only on day two. Competitors can look forward to a prize of $2,000 for first place and other additional prizes. Since this is an open event, WPTBS membership is not required.
Also taking place this week, EPIC Volleyball will be in Erie from Tuesday until Thursday. There are 24 teams coming to town from Pennsylvania and New York. The camp will run each day from 8 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. and will be located at Fort LeBoeuf High School and Fairview High School.
