The Erie Kennel Club will invite dog owners to discover how fast their dogs can run at the AKC Fast CAT competition in Erie, PA this weekend. Fast CAT, which stands for Coursing Ability Test, is a timed 100-yard dash where dogs run one at a time, chasing a lure. The event will take place at Harborcreek Community Park on Saturday and Sunday starting at 8 a.m. and ending at 4 p.m.

To participate in the AKC Fast CAT competition, dogs must be at least 12 months old and have an AKC number, obtainable through various AKC registration programs. The competition will also feature Fun Runs for dogs without an AKC number.

The Erie Kennel Club is a nonprofit that was established in 1906 by many members of the Erie community. It is one of the oldest all-breed member clubs of AKC and is the oldest in Pennsylvania.

In addition to the Fast CAT, the Millcreek Legion Post #773 Baseball Club is hosting its 22nd edition of the Millcreek Summer Sizzler tournament at the David Long Complex at Walnut Creek Middle School. The second weekend of the two-weekend tournament will feature more than 32 teams in three age groups from Eastern Ohio, Western New York and Erie Armstrong, Clearfield, Crawford and Venango counties. Games will be played Friday through Sunday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
