Due to a planned Democratic Party-political rally at the Erie Insurance Arena on Monday, October 14, 2024, from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. the City of Erie Police Department is encouraging motorists who are not attending the rally to avoid the area near the Erie Insurance Arena and consider alternate routes between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m. due to heavier than usual traffic, anticipated delays, and sudden road closures. On Monday, French Street from 7th Street to 10th Street and 8th Street from French Street to Holland Street, along with Holland Street from 7th to 10th street, will be closed from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.

Members of the public who are attending the rally are urged to arrive no later than 5:00 p.m. on Monday.

There will be enhanced security measures including patrolling Erie Police Department officers by vehicle, on foot, and on bicycles to ensure a strong and visible presence throughout the event. Erie Police are working closely with the U.S. Secret service, State, local law enforcement partners and PennDOT to minimize disruptions to the public while ensuring the highest level of safety and security during the event.

The Erie Police Department also reminds all attendees and motorists to be mindful of safety and stay on sidewalks while walking, adhere to traffic regulations, and avoid blocking roadways.
