Approximately 2,729 voters in Erie County were issued provisional ballots at the polls for the November 5, 2024 General Election.  Staff from the Erie County Voter Registration Department researched the eligibility of the voters for review of the provisional ballots by authorized representatives of the parties and the candidates.

Some voters were not registered to vote and their ballots were marked rejected. Some voted at the incorrect precinct and their ballots received either a full count or a partial count depending on where they voted.

On Friday, November 8, 2024, the authorized representatives began to review those provisional ballots that were determined to be eligible for a full count or partial count. On Tuesday, November 12, 2024, the authorized representatives resumed their review of the provisional ballots. As a result of this review, a number of challenges were made to disqualify additional provisional ballots.

On Thursday, November 14, 2024, at 2:00pm the Erie County Board of Elections will hold a hearing to review the challenges raised to the provisional ballots. The hearing will be held at the Erie County Courthouse, 140 West 6th Street, Room 114A, Erie, PA 16501 and is open to the public. Voters on the hearing list may participate. The Provisional Ballot Hearing List with the list of voters is available on the Erie County website at https://eriecountypa.gov/departments/elections-voting/.
